How Do You Feed Yourself?
Do you ever find yourself eating larger portions than you want/need?
You may notice that you are seeking out sweets daily.
While these behaviors are ones that we all do, sometimes it feels like you cannot stop the cycle. You beat yourself up because you don’t have the willpower to stay the course. You look for a diet to follow so that you have some guidelines to help you feel in control. I want to offer another solution.
Focus on feeding your spiritual self.
Spirituality means different things to different people. It might include organized religion. It might not. Here are a few things that I find spiritually fulfilling:
Meditation: I am loving the content found on the app Insight Timer. There are so many different guided meditations to choose from so you are sure to find something that resonates.
Being in nature: To me, there is nothing more grounding than being amongst the trees or on the edge of a body of water.
Oracle cards: I truly enjoy the inspirational guidance I receive from pulling a card from a favorite deck.
Here’s the thing that most people do not realize.
When you feed yourself spiritually, you fill a void that you likely have been trying to fill with food. When our life is more balanced, it is easier to see food as fuel.
Those chocolate cravings are actually beautiful messengers that your soul is seeking more. So next time a craving hits, ask yourself, what am I really needing, and how can I give it to myself?
